Team Rubicon’s primary mission is providing disaster relief to those affected by natural disasters, whether domestic or international. They unite the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams. The seriousness of Team Rubicon’s mission coupled with the wide and unpredictable geographic breadth means that the organization has no time to waste. They have multi-tiered needs that require a robust and efficient operational infrastructure that is also affordable. TR needs to be able to use e-commerce as a means of fundraising and engaging with supporters but also to be able to effectively get supplies into the hands of its regional teams nationwide.
We began working with Team Rubicon to implement an organizational solution across teams and functions. We worked with the marketing team to develop a refreshed e-commerce storefront and provide production and fulfillment of items sold via the online store, this presented a significant cost savings and operational simplification for the marketing team. We also worked in tandem with internal logistics teams to build a “members only” wholesale portal with special items only available to regional leaders and for their teams. This members only regional store allows Team Rubicon to set a quarterly budgets for their regional teams and team leaders are then able to log in and place orders for needed items that draw down from their budget allocation. Team Rubicon was previously using multiple warehouse locations for each function, which was causing fragmented operations and increased costs. Our holistic solution allowed Team Rubicon to centralize warehouse operations, purchasing, production, and accounting to create an efficient and smooth operating system for their unique needs.
